Valhalla 0.3.0 first public release
The date and the final notes are written when the release is cut; this is the draft.
The first version anybody can download. Six members at one table, your skills and your knowledge, in a window of its own on macOS and Windows.
Install it like any other app
- A disk image for Macs, Apple silicon and Intel, and a per-user installer for Windows that needs no administrator password. Each carries its own Python, so there is nothing to install first except the AI tool you already use.
- The terminal comes along. The
mimircommand is inside the app; link it onto your PATH, or tick the box in the Windows installer.
Know when there is something new
- Updates from inside the app. Once a day Valhalla asks this site for the newest version and offers it in Settings › Advanced › Window › About. The download is checked against its published checksum before it is opened, and you can switch the check off.
Feels at home on Windows
- Valhalla finds Claude Code where Windows installs it, no console window flashes while it works, and the window wears its own icon.
A new face
- The app icon is the mead hall. The launch screen keeps its painting.
- Your folder is
~/.valhalla. An existing~/.mimiris moved across on first launch and a link is left at the old name, so nothing you had is lost.
What this edition is
- The personal edition: the window and the terminal, for one person, free for noncommercial use. Accounts, the admin console, the shared library and the phone app belong to the commercial edition.
