The app
Valhalla has no account, no sign-up and no telemetry. Everything it writes — your conversations, settings, knowledge packs and skills — is in a folder on your computer (~/.valhalla) in plain files and a SQLite database you can open.
When you send a message, the app sends your text and the material it assembled (personas, matched skills, matched knowledge, and, if a repository is set, its branch and diff) to the AI provider you chose: Anthropic through the Claude Code tool or the Anthropic API, OpenAI, or a local server. That provider's privacy terms apply to that request. We are not in the middle of it and never see it.
What reaches this website
- The update check. Once a day, if the setting is on (it is on by default and lives in Settings › Advanced › Window), the app fetches
/releases/latest.jsonfrom this site. The request carries the app's version and platform in its User-Agent header and nothing else — no identifier, no usage. Like any web request it reaches our hosting provider, Cloudflare, with your IP address, which Cloudflare keeps in its ordinary request logs for a limited time under its own policy. We do not build anything from those logs. - Downloads. Fetching an installer from this site is the same kind of request.
- What we count. When an installer is downloaded, or the app checks for an update, this site adds one to a tally that records the file, the app's version, platform and channel, the country Cloudflare places the request in, and the day. That is all it records: no IP address, no User-Agent, no identifier and nothing that links one request to another, so the tally cannot tell us who you are or whether two downloads were the same person. It is kept in Cloudflare's Analytics Engine for about three months.
- Visiting this site. There are no analytics scripts, no cookies and no third-party embeds on these pages.
Commercial customers
A commercial licence is agreed by email. We keep the correspondence and the licence record for as long as the licence runs and as the law requires afterwards.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and Israel's Privacy Protection Law you may ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and complain to a supervisory authority. For the personal edition the honest answer is usually "nothing": the app sends us nothing that identifies you. Write to the address on the contact page.
