The phone app

Your conversations, from anywhere. The phone talks to the window on your Mac, so the work still runs on the Mac, in your repositories, on your model.

What you need

Pairing, once

Open Settings › Phone on the Mac. It is a checklist, and each line turns green when it is done.

  1. An account to sign in as. A phone signs in as somebody, so the Mac needs an account. Press Create the owner and choose an email and a password. From then on the window asks for that password too.
  2. Tailscale on this Mac, signed in. The page reads it on its own; start Tailscale and it updates.
  3. Open the door for your phone. This gives the Mac a public https address. The first time, Tailscale may ask you to allow it on your account: press Allow in Tailscale, allow it, then Try again. A brand-new address can take a few minutes to work everywhere.
  4. Install the app. The page shows a link. Open it in the phone's browser and install it. Android asks you to allow installs from the browser, because the app does not come from the Play Store.
  5. Pair. Press New pairing code. In the app, tap Scan QR and point the phone at the screen. No camera? Type the address and the code shown under the QR instead.

That is it. The phone keeps you signed in for thirty days, behind your fingerprint.

What the phone can do

Read every conversation and project, start one, send a message and watch the reply arrive, run a workflow, read what a reply produced, and search everything. Rename, move and archive chats, and make, edit and delete projects.

A turn you start from the phone runs on the Mac to the end, whatever the phone does. Lock it, put it away, change network: when you come back the reply is there, or still arriving.

Not yet: a notification when a reply lands (the app catches up when you open it), and putting a chat in a folder.

What the public address answers

The Mac's address is on the internet, so it answers very little: a pairing code, the app download, and a phone that is already paired. The window itself, its password door and every setting are refused through it.

Anything that changes what the members are allowed to do on the Mac (settings, repositories, the members themselves) can only be changed at the Mac. A lost phone is a lost conversation, not a rewritten machine, and Close the phone's door in Settings › Phone takes the address off the internet at once.
